A number of the cats on site show signs of neurological issues. Most obvious is what seems like weakness in the rear legs. Some of the cats only walk short distances before plopping down on the ground. Others have a very odd rear gait and/or a low hunch when walking. In addition to the symptoms seen in the legs, some of them also have a shivering like tremor. SPCA Cincinnati has taken in one of the neuro cats and have been evaluating and treating her. So far there is no conclusive diagnosis, but after consultation with a neurologist the suspensions are toxo, FIP, an abnormal form of CH or other genetic disorder. Helping these cats is our biggest challenge right now..

Thankfully most of the cats on site are friendly. But others simply do not want to be handled and will need to be placed in barn homes or similar 'working cat' situations. Leaving them onsite is unfortunately not an option. We believe we have barn placement for a few cats but are looking for additional homes. We will also consider placing friendly cats in barn homes for someone wanting a companion in adition to a mouser. All of these cats, friendly or not, are accustomed to hunting and living outside.
